THE PROBATE DIVISION SUPPORT STAFF
PROGRAM ATTORNEY The responsibilities of the program attorney include:
- implementation of electronic filing of pleadings/papers for the probate division
- development of procedures with approval of the chief judge, administrative judge for the probate division, trial court administrator and trial court counsel
- assisting the 17th Judicial Circuit's Indigent Services Committee with the Probate Counsel Registry
- supervising the Guardianship Investigation Office and assisting with legal inquires and background investigations and preparation of cases for referral for criminal prosecution
- determining the professional guardians practicing in the 17th Judicial Circuit compliance with all statutory and administrative order requirements
- supervising the processing of examining committee member payments for indigent wards
- communicating with court appointed attorneys
- assisting the circuit judges assigned to the probate division.
The program attorney also communicates with attorneys and the public on general procedures, but does not provide legal advice.

GUARDIANSHIP INVESTIGATOR/COURT MONITOR Conducts field investigations and joint investigations with law enforcement, as assigned by the Court, when allegations of fraud, abuse or exploitation of a minor or elderly ward are received or suspected. The Investigator/Monitor also reviews all guardianship applications for investigation, conducts criminal and credit background checks and Department of Children and Families reports, and provides the presiding Judge with written recommendations.
