Scheduling a Tour of the Broward County Courthouse
Getting a closer look at the inner workings of our judicial system has never been easier. The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit offers a Courthouse Visit Program for school-aged children (Grades 3-12), college students and adults. Participants get an overview of the State Courts System and how the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit – the second largest in Florida – serves Broward County. The courthouse is located at 201 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
Our tours include visits to courtrooms to observe live proceedings and Q&A sessions with the presiding judge, court schedules permitting. All visitors must clear security upon entering the Courthouse. Tours start at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon. (Please note: adult chaperones are required to accompany visiting students. All tours are capped at a maximum of 40 participants, including students and chaperones, no exceptions.)
Our Courthouse tours are extremely popular so plan accordingly. Tours are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis and are conducted Tuesdays through Thursdays. Requests can be submitted by completing our downloadable Courthouse Visit Request Form. Courthouse tour requests should never be submitted to judges. Our Public Information Officer will contact you regarding tour availability.
In addition, adult visitors are always welcome to visit the public areas of the court, including the audience area of a courtroom to observe a trial, without the need to contact our office.
Tours are not conducted at our regional courthouses in Hollywood, Plantation and Deerfield Beach.
