Family Court Services
Family Court Services (FCS) provides assistance to families at the direction of judges and magistrates within the Family Division of the 17th Judicial Circuit.

FCS provides an oasis of support when families face their most difficult moments. The program’s focus is to enhance conflict resolution and provide meaningful support to families, with particular sensitivity to the needs and best interests of children. We recognize that family court proceedings can be emotionally challenging and, at times, may affect a family’s perspective and decision-making. FCS works to support families in navigating these challenges with professionalism, neutrality and care.

Services Provided
In-House Services
Social investigations are conducted by court-employed investigators at no cost to the parties, in accordance with Section 61.20, Florida Statutes, and pursuant to court order. These investigations examine relevant information concerning the child (ren) and each parent and assist the Court in making informed decisions regarding the initial determination or modification of parental time-sharing.

Court-Ordered Referrals & Coordinated Services
Parenting Coordination –

A child-focused alternative dispute resolution process whereby a parenting coordinator assists the parents in creating or implementing a parenting plan by facilitating the resolution of disputes between the parents by providing education, making recommendations, and, with the prior approval of the parents and the court, making limited decisions within the scope of the court’s order of referral.
Family Court Services facilitates court ordered referrals to qualified external agencies and providers for the following services:
- Anger Management
- Extended Co-Parenting Programs
- Family Counseling (including reunification intervention when required)
- Individual Counseling (for either party or minor children)
- Parenting Classes
- Paternity Testing
- Substance Abuse Counseling
- Substances Abuse Evaluation
- Substance Abuse Testing
- Supervised Visitation
- Therapeutic Supervised Visitation
With the exception of Social Investigations, all services are provided by external agencies and may involve costs to the parties. When available, FCS prioritizes referrals to county-funded programs or the most economical appropriate provider.

Family Court Services keeps Broward County families at the forefront of its work. Our role is to support the Court while helping families access court ordered services designed to promote stability, accountability and healthier outcomes.
