Circuit Judge Peter M. Weinstein is currently serving his third two-year term as Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida, having won re-election in 2015. Judge Weinstein has served for more than 18 years on the judicial bench of the second-largest circuit court in the state of Florida.

Chief Judge Weinstein received his Bachelor's Degree from New York University and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Brooklyn Law School. He served as a legal officer in the United States Army, and held the rank of Captain when he was honorably discharged from service. While a practicing attorney, Judge Weinstein worked as a prosecutor for Broward County, and was in private practice for many years before being appointed to the 17th Circuit bench in 1998. He also served as a Florida Senator for 14 years. Judge Weinstein is married, with two sons and three grandchildren.

The 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, serving all of Broward County, has 90 Judges - 58 Circuit and 32 County - and 11 General Magistrates and Hearing Officers.
