The local Boys and Girls Club visited the central courthouse last Friday to learn about the court system and the different roles people play in order for the system to work. Judge Jennifer Hilal hosted the group, educating them on the role of a judge and an overview of how the legal system works. Additionally, BSO Court Services Captain Tianga spoke with the kids about law enforcement, Elias Hilal spoke with them about being an attorney, Kendrick Busby spoke about the role of a bailiff, Carnessa Johnson represented the Clerk’s Office and Marta Prieto came from Court Reporting. It wasn’t all presentations though – the children also participated in a mock trial, filling all the roles from court reporter to the judge!
