National Court Interpreter Association Visits Broward Courthouse

The National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators, NAJIT, held its 43rd annual conference in Fort Lauderdale this weekend, and the Seventeenth Circuit hosted some early arrivals to a courthouse tour and conversation.
Court interpreters from all over the country, including New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Massachusetts, Ohio, and more, had the opportunity to see how our Circuit’s Court Interpreting program works, and sat in on a variety of courts in session including one in which a witness needed the services of one of our own!
2022 Informed Voters Project Brings Broward Students to the Courthouse

Last Friday, the Broward County Courthouse hosted 60 students from schools across the county participating in the Informed Voters Project, a national initiative developed to educate the public about the constitutional role of the judicial branch and to protect the courts from outside influence. Judges and attorneys volunteered their time to lead group sessions in different courtrooms, engaging the students in activities including Judicial Jeopardy, Judicial Bingo, and Judicial Q&A.

Thank you to all the judges and attorneys who volunteered, and the staff who put it all together!
