Law Day Observed with Nativity Catholic School

The 17th Circuit was represented at the Law Day Luncheon hosted by Nativity Catholic School on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

At the luncheon, a speech competition was held with the theme titled “Voices of Democracy”. The winners of the competition included students Amal Khouzam coming in 1st place, Braden Luongo in 2nd place, and Olivia Grnja in 3rd place. In attendance were Judges Michele Towbin Singer, Marina Garcia-Wood, Kristin R. Kanner, United States District Court Judge Raag Singhal, and Kenneth Hasset, Esq. who coordinated the event.
Transnational Matters PLLC Visits the 17th Circuit

A small group of interns from the law firm Transnational Matters PLLC came to visit the 17th Circuit courthouse on Monday, April 29, 2024.

While touring the courthouse, the interns visited Chief Judge Jack Tuter, Judges Ari Abraham Porth and Peter Holden. In the judge’s courtrooms, they observed a variety of court processes including mental health court and a civil dispute.
Take Your Child to Work Day at the 17th Circuit

The 17th Judicial Circuit held an event for school-aged children in celebration of National Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 25, 2024.


Children at the event observed presentations given by the BSO K-9 Unit and the BSO Crime Scene Unit. They also learned about the anatomy of a courtroom, and participated in a mock trial with assistance from Judges Betsy Benson, Tabitha B. Eves, Florence Taylor Barner, Jackie Powell, Lorena V. Mastrarrigo and Supervising Judicial Staff Attorney Megan Zbikowski and Judicial Staff Attorney Ashley Bober.
