The Florida Bar held their 2019 annual convention this year in Boca Raton, and the mid-week Judicial Luncheon featured all seven members of the Florida Supreme Court and guest speakers including Governor Ron DeSantis and Chief Justice Charles T. Canady.

The National Academy of Sciences concludes “opioid use disorder is a treatable chronic brain disease resulting from the changes in neural structure and function … caused over time by repeated opioid use.” Problem-solving treatment courts and dependency courts in Florida recognize this. #OpioidAwarenessMonth

On Friday, June 14, 2019, the Seventeenth Circuit celebrated the investiture of Judge Mariya Weekes, circuit court judge serving in the felony criminal division. She was sworn in by Chief Judge Jack Tuter, and robed by her husband and children.
