Summer Law Student Internships Begin!

 

School is out, and the summer internship program has begun in the Seventeenth. Local second and third-year law school students gathered for their first internship program meeting today in Judge Robert Diaz’s courtroom to hear from guest presenter, Broward County Public Defender Howard Finkelstein. The interns will shadow judges and spend a lot of time in their courtrooms for the next few months, taking in all they can as they prepare to become attorneys.

Volunteer Professionalism and Civility Magistrate Pilot Program Begins in Broward

 

The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, in conjunction with the Broward Bar Association, has established a Professionalism and Civility Magistrate Pilot Program to address issues among attorneys practicing in the Circuit Civil divisions. Pre-screened lawyers volunteer to serve as magistrates, and upon approval will preside over appropriate cases where the parties’ dispute arises from a lack of civility in the courtroom, discovery or other interaction with counsel that undermines the integrity or professionalism of the legal profession.

Judge Gillespie and Judge Williams Honored at Annual Convocation

 

In recognition of “making a difference” in the lives of juvenile offenders in the court system, Judge Kenneth Gillespie and Judge Elijah Williams were each honored at the Word of the Living God Ministries Annual Holy Convocation on May 14, 2018.
