Judge Robert Diaz held his Nova Southeastern University Street Law class mock trials in the central courthouse in mid-November where close to 400 students, teachers and parents participated!

Last week, Judge Ginger Lerner Wren gave the keynote opening of the Academy of Architecture for Justice 2018 Conference in New Jersey. The theme was “Enlightened Justice – Advancing Treatment” and she presented on therapeutic jurisprudence and problem-solving justice.

2018 National Adoption Day Event
Fifty-five children were adopted into loving families in Broward County on Saturday, November 17, 2018, as the Seventeenth Circuit held its 16th annual adoption day event in the downtown Fort Lauderdale courthouse.
Several agencies and staff collaborated to make this program a success, once again. Thirteen judges were on-hand to finalize the adoptions throughout the day. Those participating were: Judge Bowman, Chief Judge Tuter, Judge Bristol, Judge Weinstein, Judge Gillespie, Judge Izquierdo, Judge Gundersen, Judge Schulman, Judge Gamm, Judge Frink, Judge Porth, Judge Levenson, and Judge Feld.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and to the many families that adopted a child!
Judge Schiff Presents Webinar to Judges Nationwide
Broward County Court Judge Louis H. Schiff presented an afternoon webinar for the National Judicial College from his office at the North Regional Courthouse on November 15. More than 300 judges from Alaska to Florida attended his presentation which focused on professionalism in court.
Judge Schiff is in his 22nd year as a county court judge, and he has been a volunteer faculty member for the National Judicial College for the past 12 years. In addition to being on the faculty for the NJC, he serves as a judicial educator for the Florida College of Advanced Judicial Studies; Florida New Judges College; and Florida DUI/Traffic Adjudication program.
He is a past education chairman for the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida, as well as a Past-President of the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida.
