The students of Flanagan High School welcomed the Honorable Catalina Avalos, the Honorable Kenneth A. Gottlieb and the Honorable Ari Abraham Porth who spoke for the students’ career day.
The judges took time speaking to the students about their professional journeys and how their careers in law shaped them into the judges they are today.
The students of the Nova Middle School Pre-Law Program visited the 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse on Tuesday, March 14th.
Students visited with Chief Judge Jack Tuter, the Honorable Jeffrey R. Levenson and Public Defender Gabriel Ermine, who all shared their experience with a career in law and discussed what it was like to be a part of the 17th Judicial Circuit.
The Honorable Tabitha B. Eves was the keynote speaker for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida’s 2023 Dinner Installation on February 25th. The dinner was held to celebrate the installation of the new board of the APABA.

The Honorable Michele Towbin Singer served as judge in the finale mock trial between Team Cheetah from Nova Middle School and Team Lion from Beachside Montessori.
Students participated in the mock trial where they competed against each other to see who could follow the judicial process correctly and who was best able to convince the judge that they did their research before heading to trial.
The 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Court Team held their quarterly Provider Team Meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to empower communication with tri-county substance use disorder treatment providers, local certified sober living homes, and Drug Court staff.
The Honorable Susan L. Alspector joined Drug Court Manager Russell Edwards in hosting the meeting which is held at the Central Courthouse and continues to be a great success.
The 17th Judicial Circuits’ Drug Court was awarded a foundational training by the National Association of
Drug Court Professionals. Three trainers visited the 17th Circuit and presented the training which discussed best practice standards and ways to improve the program.
