Congratulations to the NSU Sharks!

The Honorable Florence Taylor Barner accompanied the Nova Southeastern University’s Mock
Trial Team for support at the Florida State University’s Regional Competition.
The Nova Southeastern Team went on to do very well and won the Best Witness Award for the
whole competition.

Judge Barner Makes an Impact during Black History Month

The Honorable Florence Taylor Barner gave a motivating and inspirational speech for the South Broward Bar Association for Black History Month on February 2, 2023.
Judge Barner’s speech included a historic overview of Black History and focused on the importance of community involvement and volunteering by legal professionals. Judge Barner also shared practical and personal observations from her experience on the bench.

Judge Diaz Reads to Local Students

Judge Robert F. Diaz visited Stephen Foster Elementary School for Lawyer’s for Literacy Day, a program
organized by the Broward County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section. This is the eleventh year that
the program is in existence.
Judge Diaz joined fellow volunteers who read to kindergarten and first grade students. Students were
able to take a copy of the book for their own home libraries.

Notice of Circuit Court Vacancies

The 17th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission has been asked to present Governor Ron
DeSantis with nominees for the vacancies that have been made in the Broward Circuit Court.
The Commission is requesting that qualified candidates submit an application for consideration.
