Civil Traffic Hearing Officers Sworn In at 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse

The 17th Judicial Circuit held the swearing in of eleven new Civil Traffic Hearing Officers on Monday, December 12, 2022. Judge Robert Lee opened the event and welcomed the future Hearing Officers, followed by the swearing in by Chief Judge Jack Tuter. Judge John Fry closed the event with words of encouragement for the new Hearing Officers as they begin their journeys with the 17th Judicial Circuit.

Whiddon Rogers Education Center tours the Courthouse

The students of Whiddon Rogers Education Center visited the 17th Circuit Courthouse Wednesday, December 7, 2022 and learned about various parts of the judicial system in the United States.
Students were able to meet and speak with Judge Stacey Schulman in her courtroom and learn more about dependency cases.
Students also had the opportunity to visit with Delinquency Court Judge Elijah Williams, who encouraged them to study hard and further their education.

Judge Blackmon and Judge DePrimo honored during investiture

Friday, December 2, 2022, were the robings of the Honorable Natasha DePrimo and the Honorable Tabitha Blackmon at the 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse.
Family and friends joined in attendance as Judge DePrimo and Judge Blackmon were honored and recognized for their great accomplishments. They were each presented with a plaque and gavel in their name from the Broward County Bar Association.
Both judges shared their gratitude for all the support and kindness they have received on their paths to success and continued future achievement.

Judge Barner Swears in Vice Mayor Joshua Simmons

Joshua Simmons, the Vice Mayor for the City of Coral Springs, was sworn in for an additional term as Commissioner for Seat 4 on November 30, 2022 by the Honorable Judge Florence Taylor Barner at Coral Springs City Hall.
Vice Mayor Simmons is the first African American Commissioner in Coral Springs to be elected. He has been recognized for his important work and leadership with the Black community in Coral Springs. Vice Mayor Simmons also has been recognized as a local leader who advocated for home rule when he recently received the Florida League of Cities Home Rule Hero Award.
