The 17th Circuit has been providing therapy dogs in the courtroom since 2013. Therapy dogs are utilized in dependency courtrooms to help ease the tension that can exist during a dependency trial.

Thursday, October 12, 2023, marks the one year anniversary of the Community Court at Pompano Beach.
Awards were provided to those individuals who helped make the program a success and a video was shared that highlighted stories of triumph about participants who were able to complete the program.
Judge Florence Taylor Barner and Chief Judge Jack Tuter were also recognized for their dedication and continuous support of the Community Court and its monumental impact on Broward County.
The Honorable Louis H. Schiff joined fellow University of Florida alumni band members
to play at a recent game to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Gator Band Alumni
Association Reunion.

The Honorable Elaine A. Carbuccia swore-in new Attorney Kathryn Kelly on Friday, October 3, 2023.
The notable occasion took place in Judge Carbuccia’s courtroom and was observed by Attorney Kelly’s peers and family.
The Children Services Council featured the 17th Circuit in an article of their resource guide.
In the article, Chief Judge Jack Tuter is recognized for administrative order 2021-63-CRIM. The order states that all human trafficking expungement cases are to be heard by Judge Stacy Ross. The purpose of the administrative order is to expeditiously handle these matters with Judge Ross, as she is informed in Human Trafficking and is the founding and presiding judge of RISE Court, which supports victims’ efforts to achieve justice restoration.

Students from Nova Southeastern University visited the 17th Circuit courthouse for a guided tour on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
They spent time learning about the courthouse and observing trial practice and procedure in Judge Ari Abraham Porth’s and Judge Frank Ledee’s courtrooms. They also spoke with Judicial Staff Attorney Supervisor Megan Zbikowski and Broward County State Attorney Harold F. Pryor, who shared their experience and connection to the 17th Circuit courthouse.
