General Magistrate Henrietta Jo Pace was sworn in today, July 11, 2023, by Chief Judge Jack Tuter in the ceremonial courtroom at the 17th Circuit Courthouse.
Magistrate Pace was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1988 and has a long history of aiding people in the community. She is currently assigned to the Domestic Relations division.
The Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission has been asked to provide Governor Ron DeSantis with nominees for the vacancies in the Broward Circuit Court created by the resignations of Circuit Court Judge Dale Cohen and Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer.

The 17th Circuit Courthouse will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in observation of the holiday. Operations will commence on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
The Honorable Elaine Carbuccia was sworn in Friday, June 30, 2023 at the 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse. Chief Judge Jack Tuter and United States District Court Judge Raag Singhal joined together to swear in Judge Carbuccia who also shared a message of gratitude and appreciation after taking the oath.
The 17th Judicial Circuit was selected by the National Center for State Courts to present at the NCSC Court Space reDesign Challenge. The workshop allowed the 17th Circuits’ Video Operations Manager Ian Edwards and Chief Deputy Court Administrator Diana Sobel to speak about the innovative technology at the 17th Circuit and how it has benefited the judicial staff with their proceedings.
The NCSC invited ten projects from different court systems from around the country to share and exhibit a variety of ways that a court system can conduct business and welcome modern business practices. The 17th Judicial Circuit was the only court system chosen from the state of Florida.
Judge Florence Taylor Barner, Judge Jackie Powell and Judge Fabienne E. Fahnestock were honored at the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association Judicial Reception on Friday, June 23, 2023.
The GSCBWLA Foundation was formed in 1985 and has continued to support and encourage Black women lawyers to pursue professional excellence and further their legal careers. The Judicial Reception took place at the 2023 Annual Florida Bar Convention.
