Staff Attorneys Tina Talrchyk and Laura Worden visited Whiddon Rogers Education Center on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
After speaking about their experience as attorneys, students participated in a Q&A session where they asked detailed questions about how to be successful in a law career.
The Honorable John D. Fry presided over a mock trial for students from Forest Glen Middle School at the 17th Circuit Courthouse. Students spoke with Judge Fry after the trial to discuss the litigation process and best practices.
Students also met with the Honorable Elijah H. Williams, Public Defender Gordon Weekes and State Attorney Harold Pryor.
Students from the South Florida region of the Classical Conversations Community participated in a mock trial at the 17th Circuit on Friday, April 14, 2023. The Honorable Betsy Benson presided over the mock trial and shared valuable advice with students once the trial was over.

The students of Cypress Run Education Center paid the 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse a visit on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. While visiting, they met with the Honorable Catalina Avalos and the Honorable George Odom, Jr. who shared their experiences and journeys to becoming judges. Students also spoke with Chief Assistant Public Defender John James, who shared his experience with the Public Defender’s office and what is was like to pursue a career in law.
Students from the from Flanagan High School’s Women of Tomorrow club visited the 17th Judicial Circuit on Thursday, April 6, 2023. The young women came prepared with questions about potential careers as an attorney or judge when they met with the Honorable Stacy Ross and the Honorable Deborah Carpenter-Toye.
Students also met with Alternative Dispute Resolution Director Brittany Simpson Joseph and Staff Mediator Marian Mirchandani, who spoke with the young women about the role of a mediator and how it pertains to the litigation process.
