On Thursday, September 6, Chief Judge Tuter spoke at the South Broward Bar Association Luncheon. He discussed the State of the Circuit, recognized some retiring judges and newly elected judges, and discussed future plans to establish a Community Court in the 17th Circuit.
The Seventeenth Circuit congratulates all incumbent judges for being chosen to serve another six-year term, including: Judge Ernest Kollra and Judge Michael Usan for the Circuit bench and Judge Michael Davis, Judge Robert Diaz, and Judge Robert Lee for the County Court bench. Congratulations also go out to newly elected Judges Shari Beth Africk-Olefson, Susan Lynn Alspector and Dan Casey.
Congratulations to Judge Ari Porth, recipient of the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency’s Distinguished Service Award! The non-profit group presented the award to Judge Porth at its 89th Annual Banquet last week.
Attorney Matthew Tannenbaum was chosen as the Seventeenth Circuit’s new Hearing Officer, covering child support cases in division DOR96. Sworn in by Senior Judge Arthur Birken, Hearing Officer Tannenbaum begins Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Circuit Judge Tarlika Navarro had her investiture Friday, August 24, 2018, in which she was ceremoniously sworn to the bench. She has been serving on the Domestic Violence and Family Court bench since May of this year.
Florida Supreme Court Justice C. Alan Lawson administered the oath of office, and her immediate family robed her.
