Judges Gamm, Ribas, and Schulman, along with their judicial assistants and family members, ran a 5K this weekend in support of Kids in Distress. Both Judge Ribas and Judge Schulman won 1st place in their age groups!
In preparation of “Black History Month: A Celebration of the Black legal Community, Broward’s Legal Firsts,” presented by the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit and the Broward County Bar Association on February 16, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m in the jury assembly room, 3320, many of the celebrated pioneers stopped by Court Administration to be interviewed on camera for the occasion. Workers began removing furniture from courtrooms and offices this week, as the county gets closer to demolishing the old central and west wings of the downtown courthouse. All court operations and staff moved out last year, but the items that stayed behind are finally leaving too. It will take a little less than a month to clear out all 10 floors of the old building.
Judge Patti Englander Henning received the Judge of the Year award from the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Fort Lauderdale Chapter during their annual Judges Night Reception dinner on January 19, 2018. This distinguished honor recognizes all of the hard work Judge Henning has put into her 30 + years on the bench. ABOTA’s mission is to uphold the jury system by educating the American public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury.
