Judge Williams Invites BSO Community Justice Program

The Honorable Elijah H. Williams invited a small group from the BSO Community Justice Program to come to visit his courtroom on August 10, 2023.


The Community Justice Program (CJP) is a voluntary program for juvenile offenders in Broward County that offers them Civil Citation and Diversion options. The program ranges from 45 to 90 days and connects youth from ages 7 through 17 with pre and post arrest services based on their needs.

17th Circuit Judges Hold Appreciation Lunch

The Honorable Lauren M. Alperstein, Honorable Carol-Lisa Phillips and Honorable Michele Towbin Singer celebrated their summer interns by bringing them together for lunch on August 11, 2023 at the 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse. The meal was provided by the three judges to show their appreciation to the interns for all of their efforts and dedication throughout their internship.

Judge Barner and Judge Powell Honored by Broward County Hispanic Bar Association

The Broward County Hispanic Bar Association honored the Honorable Florence Taylor Barner and the Honorable Jackie Powell at their event titled Minority Women Community Leaders Empowerment Celebration on August 10, 2023. The event was held via zoom and brought together women from legal and journalism professions who shared stories, ideas and sound advice from various experiences and perspectives.

Family Court Judges Honored by Broward County Hispanic Bar Association

The Broward County Hispanic Bar Association celebrated the 17th Judicial Circuit’s Family Court
judges on August 9, 2023. The Honorable Lauren M. Alperstein, Honorable Elaine Carbuccia,
Honorable Kristin Kanner, Honorable Jessica Marra and the Honorable Lorena Mastrarrigo were
all recognized by the BCHBA and their sponsors for their service to the family division and the
Broward County Community.
