Women of Tomorrow Visit from Flanagan High School

Students from the from Flanagan High School’s Women of Tomorrow club visited the 17th Judicial Circuit on Thursday, April 6, 2023. The young women came prepared with questions about potential careers as an attorney or judge when they met with the Honorable Stacy Ross and the Honorable Deborah Carpenter-Toye.

Students also met with Alternative Dispute Resolution Director Brittany Simpson Joseph and Staff Mediator Marian Mirchandani, who spoke with the young women about the role of a mediator and how it pertains to the litigation process.

HB 837 Civil Remedies Legislation

On April 10, 2023, in conjunction with ABOTA and BCBA, circuit civil judges met in person and via Zoom with members of the private civil bar to discuss recent legislation affecting civil litigation in the 17th Judicial Circuit.

Men of Tomorrow Visit the 17th Circuit

The Honorable Keathan B. Frink and the Honorable Michael Robinson welcomed the young men of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s Men of Tomorrow group on April 8, 2023.

Men of Tomorrow is a program created to empower and uplift young men in middle and/or high school through mentorship and community engagement.


The program has been influencing young men’s lives since the fall of 1988.

Judges to Hold Meeting with Civil Bar on April 10th

On Monday, April 10, 2023, the 17th Judicial Circuit Judges will hold a meeting with members of the civil bar to discuss civil litigation changes and the influx of new civil cases on account of recent legislation. The meeting will take place in person in Courtroom WW17150 from 11:45 AM to 1:30 PM. If you are unable to attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast via zoom here: bit.ly/JudicialMeeting

Judge Lopane Appointed to JEAC

Congratulations to the Honorable Nicholas Lopane who was appointed to the Judicial
Ethics Advisory Committee on Monday, April 3, 2023. Judge Lopane thanks the Supreme Court,
and states he is looking forward to an enlightening experience and further developing as a
judge so that he can best serve Broward and the State of Florida.


The Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee provides written advisory opinions to judges and judicial
candidates regarding the application of the Florida Code of Judicial Conduct with respect to
specific occurrences of contemplated judicial or non-judicial conduct.
