The Circuit Court Judges of the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida attended the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges from July 30 through August 2, 2023. Circuit judges from across the state came together for this annual conference to exchange ideas and best practices, and speak on their experiences to help their peers by expressing various points of view.

The 17th Circuit County judges attended the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida from
July 17 through 20, 2023. The conference served as an opportunity for county judges to come
together, share insights, and discuss various ways they can better serve their communities.
The Honorable Kenneth A. Gottlieb currently serves as the president of the conference, and will
do so until the end of his term in 2024.
Judge Elijah H. Williams swore in the new Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Peter B. Licata on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
The School Board of Broward unanimously approved the addition of Dr. Licata as superintendent. Dr. Licata will now lead the sixth-largest school system in the nation, and the second-largest in the state of Florida.
The Honorable Lauren M. Alperstein was one of several leaders presenting at a workshop for the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar Trial Advocacy Seminar.
The four day workshop centered on several areas of Family Law and gave Law Professionals the opportunity to earn credit toward their trial requirement.
The Honorable Tabitha B. Eves spent time at The Friendship Grill of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 14, 2023. Judge Eves spoke with the staff there, who are young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and learned about how they obtain valuable job skills and independence through their roles at the restaurant.
The Friendship Grill has remained a safe and empowering environment for its staff while providing top quality Mediterranean food for several years, and continues to be recognized as an upstanding organization in the greater Fort Lauderdale area.
