Problem Solving Courts Collaborate with South Florida Wellness Network

Court Administration from the 17th Circuit joined the Early Childhood and Dependency Drug Court to host a meet and greet for one of their newest collaborators in Peer Specialist Martine Pierre on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Ms. Pierre represents the South Florida Wellness Network and is part of a team that offers a variety of services for individuals and families in need.

Judge Barner Leads Speed Mentoring

Judge Florence Taylor Barner led the speed mentoring event at St. Thomas University College of Law on February, 15, 2024. Students engaged in brief sessions with various judges and attorneys who offered career advice and suggested best practices for the students as they begin their journeys as legal professionals.


Assisting with the event were 17th Circuit judges Elaine A. Carbuccia, Michele Towbin Singer, Lorena V. Mastrarrigo, and former 17th Circuit judge and Dean at St Thomas University College of Law Tarlika Nunez-Navarro.

17th Circuit Judges and Pathways to Careers in Law

Several Judges from the 17th Judicial Circuit attended the Pathways to Careers in Law event on
Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Fourteen students from the pre-law magnet program of Fort
Lauderdale High School were chosen as fellows who experienced what it will be like to attend
law school, participate in mock trials, and network with other law professionals.


Representing the 17th circuit were Judges Elaine A. Carbuccia, Jackie Powell, Ari Abraham
Porth, Robert F. Diaz, Nina W. Di Pietro, Frank Ledee, Carol-Lisa Phillips, Ginger Lerner-Wren,
Michael I. Rothschild, Catalina Avalos, Kevin P. Tynan, Alberto Ribas, and Stacy Ross.
